In Response to COVID-19

When we reflect on the last few weeks, it’s amazing how life can change so quickly! And yet, in the midst of so much change, it’s comforting to know that some things will always remain the same. Mercer students may be more spread out now than they were a month ago, but the Mercer spirit is as strong as ever. Every team and department across the University is working to help our students through this unprecedented time, especially in the Office of University Admissions.

Watch this message from Dr. Kelly L. Holloway, Assistant Vice President for Enrollment Management, to learn about what we are doing to better accommodate you and your family during your college search process.

“At Mercer we take great care in serving our students, and that extends to you. In response to COVID-19, we want to give you and your family additional time and resources to help in your college decision process. Enrollment deposits are now fully refundable until June 1, and applicants affected by the SAT and ACT cancellations can now apply to Mercer as Test Optional to be considered for admission.”

We have extended a few dates and deadlines to better serve you right now:

  • The deadline to submit your housing contract through MyMercer has been extended from May 8 to June 1.
  • The deadline to submit your Statement of Student Responsibilities through MyMercer has been extended from May 15 to June 1.
  • The deadline to submit your Mercer Academic Profile (MAP) has been extended from May 15 to June 1. You will receive an email with access to complete your MAP beginning April 1.

Additionally, we will tentatively reschedule our accepted student event, Make It Mercer!, based on a reassessment of the situation and CDC guidance available over the coming weeks.

Submitting your enrollment deposit by May 1 secures your spot in Mercer’s incoming class and enables you to take next steps in the enrollment process to prepare for housing self-assignment, course registration, and Summer Orientation in June. All enrollment deposits will be refundable until June 1, 2020.

Information for Applicants

First-year applicants for Summer or Fall 2020 affected by standardized test cancellations may choose to apply to Mercer as Test Optional to be considered for admission without submission of SAT or ACT test scores. Mercer continues to review applications holistically, and first-year applicants for Summer or Fall 2020 may be admitted without submitting SAT or ACT test scores if they meet other admissions requirements and criteria.

Information about Campus Visits

To minimize the health and safety risk to our campus community and visitors, we are postponing all campus visits currently scheduled through Thursday, April 30. Instead, we are offering alternative virtual opportunities to explore Mercer. Visit our website to learn more about virtual visit opportunities and to register for one of our upcoming webinars.

We are fully committed to serving you and your family in the days ahead. If you have any questions during this time, please contact your admissions counselor in the Office of University Admissions or check the Admissions FAQs webpage for additional information.

Stay safe, be well, and Go Bears!
