Juniors: 5 Things to Ask Yourself When Researching Colleges

You might have already started to research different colleges and universities. That’s great! Now is the time to keep going and really narrow down your search. Remember what your ideal school must have and what is negotiable. Don’t settle.

Here are 5 things to ask yourself when researching colleges:

1. What do you want to study?

Be open-minded and consider several majors that interest you. You can then begin filtering schools that offer those majors.

2. How far is it from home?

Distance may be a larger deciding factor for some of you than for others, but you should definitely take it into consideration.

3. What kind of campus organizations does the school offer?

Think about your hobbies and passions. Look for a school that has campus organizations related to those. Also think about new organizations that could help you step out of your comfort zone.

4. Have you visited?

Visiting campus in-person or virtually is the best way to experience schools firsthand and gain knowledge about the different programs they offer.

5. What is the college town like?

All college towns are unique in what they offer, so it’s a good idea to explore the city and think of what you might like to see in the surrounding area.

When you step onto each campus, you will get a slightly different vibe. Find the one that feels like home to you! For more information about opportunities to visit Mercer’s campus, see our website.
